Best Buy Midway Mall

Like many critics (the Alabama-born Jonathan Rosenbaum comes to mind), Cheshire was a small-town boy who moved to the big city. First it was Raleigh, and now New York. In North Carolina, his youth revolved around Midway Plantation, outside Raleigh, the family seat since 1848. In 2006, the ravages of progress overran Midway. It was boxed in by two expressways. Best Buy was across the street. Target and Home Depot were moving in. Godfrey's brother Charlie hired experts to jack up the house, put it on wheels and move it to 60 or 70 acres deep into the country.

Meanwhile, at the new Shoppes of the Midway Plantation mall, there is a restaurant named Mingo's. That was the name of Midway's first slave. The mayor, bursting with civic pride about the new development, explains how we have all moved on and outgrown the troubles of the past. The mayor is black. We are now in the 21st century.

Midway Mall, formerly Westfield Midway is a one-level shopping mall 29.2 miles (47.1 km) northwest of downtown Cleveland, Ohio, between West River Road North, Midway Boulevard, Lorain Boulevard and Interstate 80 in Elyria, a suburb of Cleveland. The mall has two open anchors which are Dunham's Sports and Johnny K's Powersports.

The mall was developed by Richard E. Jacobs and was opened on September 22, 1966. The mall originally has two anchors which were Higbee's, JCPenney and Woolworth. In late 1967, Sears had opened which added four anchors to Midway Mall. In 1992, Higbee's was renamed into Dillard's. In 1994, Woolworth had closed and was replaced with Best Buy a year later in 1995. In 1989, Midway Mall closed for renovations done to the mall, renovations were completed in August 1990, adding a fifth anchor which was May Company, as well as a new food court and renovated exterior entrances. On January 31 1993, May Company was renamed to Kaufmann's. In 2001, Midway Mall was sold to Westfield Group and the mall was renamed to Westfield Midway. In 2004, a sixth anchor was added to the mall which was Steve & Barry's. In May 2006, Westfield Midway was sold to Centro Properties Group and the mall was renamed back to Midway Mall, the mall would then be sold once again to The Woodmont Company. In September 2006, Kaufmann's was renamed into Macy's. In 2007, Dillard's had closed down as they were closing underperforming store locations. In 2016, Macy's had closed down. In 2017, Sears had closed down. On July 5, 2019, JCPenney closed down, and a lot of tenants in the mall started closing because of that. On March 7, 2020, Best Buy closed because of its lease running out, which caused more tenants to leave the mall.

Back-to-school is a good time to take advantage of all the shoe sales. Get those tennies in the right size for now and grab a pair in a size up for midway through the school year. A few of our favorites for the kiddos can be found at Hibbett Sports. Stylish, comfortable, but most of all- durable!

This company was founded by Jasmin Smith in 2015 after being caught without diapers for her twin babies in an Anchorage, Alaska, shopping mall. She created and opened a vending machine at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC) in 2019. Supplies available include diaper bags, wipes, a nose suction device, pacifiers, thermometers and teething rings.

Midway Mall is a 1.1 million square foot regional shopping mall in Elyria, Ohio featuring over 100 specialty stores anchored by Dunham's Sports and Johnny K's Power Sports. It serves as the only enclosed regional mall in Lorain County and is located on Ohio State Route 57, approximately 1/8 mile from both Interstate 80 (the Ohio Turnpike) and Interstate 90. The center also offers a children's playland.

The mall was originally opened in 1965 with Higbee's, JCPenney, Sears, and Woolworth's. In 1990, a new food court, and a wing with May Company opened. In 1992, Higbee's became Dillard's and the May Company adopted the Kaufmann's name in 1993, before becoming Macy's in 2006. In 1994 Woolworth's closed. After many years of ownership by the Jacobs Group of Cleveland, Midway Mall was sold to The Westfield Group in the 2001 as part of the Jacobs Group's divestitures, adopting the name Westfield Shoppingtown Midway during Westfield's ownership. Westfield later announced in spring 2006, that the mall didn't fulfill their "strategic plan". In May 2006 the Westfield Group sold Midway Mall to Centro Properties Group, at which point it reverted to its original name Midway Mall. Several years later, the mall was managed by The Woodmont Company. Dillard's closed in 2007; Macy's closed in 2016; and Sears closed in 2017. In 2018, Johnny K's Power Sports moved into the former Macy's. The mall is now owned and managed by Namdar Realty Group.

On January 6, 2020 it was announced that Best Buy would not be renewing their lease at the mall and would be closing at the end of their lease. The store closed on March 7, 2020. This left Dunham's Sports and Johnny K's Power Sports as the only anchors left.
